VFR CCT AWK VFR / Circuits

Normal CCT

  • Approaching Vr 76 — rotate .
  • Positive climb → ABV 85; Brakes OFF, Gear UP (Pitch 10–12°).
  • 300' — set trim; target 100 kt.
  • "G UP Flap UP"; RPM / Load stable; 600' — Performance check PWR ~92%.
  • 1000'A-S-P(50)-T; consider early downwind.
BUMFISH
  • B: Brakes firm; Park brake OFF.
  • U: Undercarriage — BLW 188, Gear DN. Hold & scan. 3 green, hand off.
  • M: Masters ON.
  • F: Fuel sufficient & balance; Fuel Pump L ON, R ON; scan.
  • I: Instruments (Alerts & EIS) — scan.
  • S: Landing light, Strobe light, Voter switch.
  • H: Canopy secure; seat belts secure — scan.
  • W: Wind sock.
  • ABEAM Threshold → Flap APP; 95–100 kt for Gear DN + Flap APP.
  • Mid-Base check: 95–100 kt, 850 (ROD), 500 fpm; PWR 30–35%; continue to FI.
  • FinalRwy clear, cleared to land; Profile/align/perf 95–100; Undercarriage 3 green; Fuel pumps ON; Flap BLW 113 → Flap LDG; set PWR 25–30% to hold 90 kt.
  • Threshold ~84 kt; both PWR IDLE; capture ROD; hold back-pressure; after landing: Flap identify → UP, Instrument check, Lights/Pumps as required, trim back a bit, rudder trim neutral.

Go Around

  • Pitch UP, Power UPF G F (Flap / Gear / Flap staged).
  • Pitch 7.5° to Vyse; scan: speed/heading/altitude; bank & balance; stabilise at 100 kt.

Flapless CCT

  • Downwind PWR 35–40%, 120 kt (guide).
  • ABEAM threshold: Gear DN ≤110 kt.
  • Base: PWR 25–30%, 95–100 kt.
  • Final: PWR 20–25%, 90 kt. Threshold ~86 kt.

OEI

  • Maintain Direction(turn to HDG bug), MaintainBlue line ≥85 (Aim 88, initial pitch ~ prior to feather.)
  • PWR UP (Rudder ↑), Gear UP, Flaps UP;
  • Dead leg, dead engine, confirm with power lever (no yaw/sound).
Fix or Feather

Fix

  • Fuel gauges / Fuel pumps — scan.
  • Fuel selector / AUX pumps — scan..
  • Alerts / Masters — scan..
  • Alternate air / Circuit breakers (ENG & pumps) — scan..
  • Voter / Alternator — scan..

Feather

  • Dead leg, confirm power lever — FEATHER (Rudder ↓). pitch ~7.5°.

Protect the Good

  • Performance check , set PWR 92% for climb/70% for level/60% for descent, Rudder ↓, Alternate air as required.

Secure the Dead

  • Fuel selector/pump OFF scan.;
  • Master/Alternator OFF scan..
  • Plan: CCT or PMQ NDB-A; climb 3000' WI circling; config G/F as required; PAN-PAN.

Plan

  • VMC: CCT to land
  • IMC: IAP; e.g. PMQ NDB-A; climb 3000' WI circling area; config G/F when needed.
  • Simulate PAN-PAN call

Note: TRK: set new HDG for wind; rudder trim as required.

OEI CCT

  • Downwind: PWR 70–75%, 120 kt.
  • Mid-DW: Gear DN, ≤110 kt.
  • Base: PWR 60–65%, Flap APP, 95–100 kt; watch bank angle.
  • Final: Committal height 400'Flap LDG, PWR 55–60%, 90 kt. Threshold ~84; live engine to idle during flare.
  • OEI GA: pitch 7.5° (feathered), 85 kt.

Short Field T/O

  • APP Flap; rotate; climb at Vy 85 (aim 90).
  • Clear of obstacle (~600'): Flap UP, accelerate 100 kt, set PWR 92%.

Vmca Recover

  • Pitch DOWN, live engine IDLE to regain rudder authority.
  • Then PWR UP, pitch up, re-establish.

Rejected T/O

  • Maintain direction; Throttles IDLE.
  • BRAKE (push & release as required); hold elevator.

TA AWK Airwork

IFR TX Call for AWK
  • IFR TX: BN AI9, DA42 POB2, TX PMQ for PMQ RWY 21; conducting AWK within 15 nm radius of PMQ, 5300 ft and BLW. Ops
  • IFR DEP: BN AI9 departed PMQ time, TRK NE, passing ---, climbing, AWK ops normal time.
Steep Turns / Stalls
  • Ref.&Lookout: set ref point (& HDG bug). Lookout(for left turn): right → Center → UP → Left → Left Back.
  • PWR ~65%
  • Hold AP DISC, AOB increase beyond 30° back-pressure → 45° AOB as briefed.
Stalls
  • HASELL check for stalls.
  • At stall warning → AP DISC, release back-pressure, ailerons centred, PWR UP.
  • For approach stall: AP DISC → PWR UP → G UP → Flap UP.

IFR NAV IFR

Pre-flight FPL

  • GAF -> FPL level -> GPWT Wind -> NavLog
  • TAF & NOTAMs-> Fuel Log
  • RAIM check, RA Check
  • ACFT folder -> Check ACFT -> FOB -> Weight & Balance; Edit Flight Notification
  • Submit Flight Notification
  • Prepare EFB, plates, charts, IAP brief

Radio

TEM

  • Machine / Environment: Active RWY/side; TRC; MSA 3000' (10 nm); Circling area 2.59 nm.

Departure Brief

  • ENT & Line-up/Back-track RWY; Departure: tracking N/S/E/W to intercept …, climb …
  • OEI in VMC: OEI CCT. OEI in IMC: climb 3000', PMQ NDB-A (unless WX very bad; check pre-flight).

Before Line UP

  • C: IFR TX Call.
  • P: PAL & windsock favouring RWY; no flashing.
  • N: NRST page 2.59 nm.
  • N: Nav & Fuel logs (ETA, fuel).

EFATO

  • Direction — set HDG bug; pitch for Blue line (~).
  • PWR UP, Gear UP, Flap UP.
  • Dead leg / dead engine (L/R) — confirm with power lever → Fix or Feather.
  • Feather: pitch 7.5°; Protect live (PWR 92, alt air), Secure dead (Fuel/Elec off).
  • Plan — don’t change config; state the plan.

Airborne

  • After T/O checks; NRST 2.59 nm; CTAF / CEN calls as applicable.

Cruise — CLEAROFFS

  • C: Cruise PWR ~65%; Flap UP; Fuel pumps OFF.
  • L: Lights as required; update Fuel & Nav logs.
  • E: E-inst check.
  • A: Airspace / Assigned ALT / Clearance / QNH.
  • R: Radios & Navaids — Nav1 tuned/identified; XPDR ALT.
  • O: Orientation & OAT.
  • F: Fuel sufficient / balance; pumps OFF.
  • F: Forced landing area (N/R IFR).
  • S: SAR active.

Enroute

  • QNH: climb above FL100 set 1013; descend below FL100 per Area/AD QNH (AD QNH within 50 nm; valid 15 min; add +50' if necessary).
  • Off-track tolerance: 2 nm. Request track changes up to 10 nm due WX; request level changes as needed.

Calculate Enroute–TOD

  • Use MSA/Grid LSALT/Route LSALT.
  • Time ≈ ΔH / 500 fpm (min). Distance ≈ time×GS or (min/60)×GS.
  • Rules of thumb: 120 kt → 2 nm/min; 150 kt → 2.5; 180 kt → 3.

AWK detail (≈5 nm pre-TOD)

  • 1 IAP: “Conducting …, … feet and BLW, ops normal time …” (ETA +30; speak e.g., “0830”).
  • >1 IAP: state radius / ALT / ops normal (ETA +45).

T-I-T Navaids (once appear)

  • ILS: Nav1 & Nav2 T-I-T. Adjust ID volume. Set Nav1 ILS; audio ON on arc (or when "ITW" appears).

DRAVIR (after ATIS)

  • Note radial (passing) and update.

TOD Flow (simple)

  • Don’t start too early. Lights (LNG/TX) ON; Nav/Comm/ALT (cleared?); DI; Gear/Flap; XPDR; Tim/Ref; Audio panel; Fuel.

OHPT

  • At ~5 nm from sector entry / arc: OBS, HDG bug/mode, Power as required, Trim.

Gear DN (⚠)

  • Include in BUMFISH; verify indications.

FAF (⚠)

  • VEMBI: discrepancy check; confirm BUMFISH done.
  • NF/SF: ~2 nm to FAF LNAV; confirm BUMFISH done.

Visual

  • FD OFF; Flaps as required.
  • Normal LDG: Flap LDG (ILS DA +500). OEI: Flap APP. If far, delay flap.

ILS (workflow)

  • Load before IAF via PROC (after IAF → Activate next leg); verify fixes vs plate.
  • Navaids: Nav1 LOC/GS & ID (audio ON when within 10–30° of course); Nav2 VOR on BRG2.
  • OHPT; DITTAGR (Data/ID/Tuning/Timing/Altimeters/GPS/RAIM).
  • Cleared for approach → Activate; set Nav2 VOR. TOD Flap APP.
  • 45° intercept to LOC; arm APR mode; capture LOC then GS: when GS diamond touches → Gear DN; run BUMFISH.
  • At FAP: check; Report as required. At DA+500: Flap LDG; RPUFF.
  • At DA+50: GA if required.

Missed/Go-Around (MAP)

  • Pitch up, PWR UPF G F.
  • Automatic switch to GNSS if configured; use VOR or GNSS as per MAP.
  • Set HDG bug/mode; FLC 100 kt (OEI: 85). PWR 92; Fuel pumps.
  • Make MAP call; once identified: track, altitude; request clearance/track; intercept …
  • Passing MAP ALT: invert FPL as needed; track GPS.

YPMQ–YSTW Route

PMQ → TW

  • Clearoffs; load approach; brief plate.
  • Route LSALT: 6200'; Grid LSALT: 6600'; 25 nm MSA: 5600'; 10 nm MSA: 5000'.
  • 50–60 nm to TW: request TRC to intercept TW R-060 at 8000' (where do you plan to intercept: ~30 nm from TW).
  • T-I-T nav aids: Nav1 & Nav2 TW 116.0 both TIT; Nav1 to ITW when available; CID Nav2 VOR.
  • TW TWR: request ILS-Z RWY 30R via VETAK / Northern Arc; followed by VOR via OH.
  • Initial descent to 7000'; via Arc — clearance limit 15 nm / R-090. Establish on arc ±2 nm (12–13 best). Nav2 set TW TRK 301; CDI Nav1 ITW.
  • Cleared ILS-Z — Activate (DCT IAF); Nav2 manually TW. DITTAGR.
  • R-085 IAF; Flap APP. R-095: TOD ↓4500'. LR-112 ↓4000. LR-115: 45° intercept, arm APR.
  • Via VETAK: request DCT VETAK on 125.75; method 1: 1 nm before VETAK, change to LOC; method 2: keep GNSS, dotted LOC in background; at half-scale, turn right. Abeam VETAK: 15 TW; report established SE; DITTAGR.
  • Start turn ≤ 19 nm; Flap APP; 45° intercept; arm APR mode. Verbalise GNSS waypoints.
  • LOC captured; GS diamond touches → Gear DN; GS captured → assign MAP ALT 4000'; run BUMFISH.
  • VEMBI: discrepancy check 3070'; report; update MAP ALT. At DA+500 (2140') → Flap LDG; RPUFF. DA..DA+50 → GA (PWR UP / Pitch UP / F G F …).
  • Finish VOR: request intercept TW–PMQ track, 8000'.

TW → PMQ

  • Level: A090. 60 nm: request DCT PMQ NDB. 30 nm: AWK detail. At TOD: request leave CTA on descent.
  • Route LSALT: 6200'. Grid LSALT: beyond 45 nm FM 6600'; 45 nm PMQ 5500'; 25 nm MSA 5300'; 10 nm MSA 3000'.
  • RNP: ND TOD 6.4 → NI; set MDA; use vertical guidance; RAIM check ~2 nm to NF LNAV.
  • GA: PWR up, Pitch up, (F) G F; UN-OBS; HDG bug/mode; FLC 100 (OEI 85); PWR as briefed.
